Year 6

French Polynesia...
We had to stay one more year. It was just too good. The endless lagoon kite and winging over turquoise waters, the colorful and healthy reefs and the small remote motus make the Tuamotus very special. We will go back here from April through November 2024 and explore our favorites and some new atolls.
In December'24, we sail to the Marquesas and stay here until April '25. These mystical, lush green islands have captivated us since we first set foot in 2006. The islands are dramatic and stunning, the culture rich, and the locals the nicest.

Year 5

Into the Pacific...
We saved the best for last. When we were here many years ago, we realized that this is what it is all about. This vast ocean changed our lives forever and made us want to come back to this amazing part of the world for more.

Logistics, difficulties, dangers, and distances go way way up. But say goodbye to the boating neighbors and say hello to a magical paradise. And then another, and another. Uninhabited islands peppered with palm trees rimmed with white sand beaches and barreling waves - well, you get the picture. First, we will spend a full year in French Polynesia ( Tuamotus, Australs, Marquesas, Papeete & Society islands. Then on to the Cook islands, Tonga and Fiji. So much to look forward to.

Year 4

In Year 4 we will explore the Caribbean.
After many miles at sea, from the Maldives, around South Africa to the Cape Verde Islands, we begin Year 4 in the kite epicenter of the Caribbean, the Grenadines - Consistent trades, steel bands and aqua marine water- . You can visit a different island every day, kite surfing down wind from one to the next.
After the hurricane season we continue and explore Antigua and Barbuda. - Caribbean nights, epic kite surfing and long desolate beaches -.
Later in the season we returned to the reliable winds in the Grenadines before we head West to Bonaire and if the circumstances allow visit Los Roques archipelago along the way.
Covid has changed a lot of our plans that's why we have chosen for these destinations, easy access by plane and yet kite spots only accessible by boat.

Year 3

After a year without traveling during the Covid-19 pandemic, we begin Year 3 by getting back to the Maldives. Unfortunately we can't travel to Madagascar yet. Instead will visit the Maldives during the monsoon season, with a good change of wind and swell. After the last expedition explored the South, we will visit the Northern atolls, looking for desolate little islands, whales sharks, manta rays, wind and waves. By the end of September it is high time to sail to South Africa to avoid the cyclone season in the Indian Ocean. Then we will round the Cape of Good Hope and sail a long 4,500 miles to the Cabo Verdes, a mystical place filled with vivid colors, friendly people, perfect waves, reliably strong wind and some of our best memories from the Best Odyssey expedition back in 2011.PLEASE NOTE: COVID-19 has made us change plans due to countries which open or may close down, we updated frequently.

Year 2

Year 2 represents vividly why we are in this business. We begin in the French and strongly Creole archipelago of the Seychelles, a haven for wildlife including the Giant tortoise, found only here and the Galapagos (46% of the country is protected, including a huge chunk of the ocean). The outer islands of the Seychelles are mostly uninhabited, and off limits to most travelers...unless you have a vessel like Discovery! Then we sail south to Northern Madagascar where some of the strangest flora and fauna on Earth calls home and importantly for us- some of the Earth's most reliable tradewinds blow steadily and strong. Then back across the Mozambique channel to visit the Quirimbas Archipelago in Mozambique (via Mayotte!), which is the definition of wild and untamed. Then back across to Madagascar to shred one of the best lefts on Earth, visit the Baobabs and lemurs and towns lighted with Kerosene, then we'll finish in the Bazaruto archipelago, one of the prettiest places we've ever visited, and we'll be there right during the Humpback migration, a sight to behold! PLEASE NOTE: Due to Covid-19 Year 2 from May, 2020 onwards has been cancelled and rescheduled for Year 3.

Year 1

Here we go! Our third expedition into the unknown! For the first year of the Quest we will begin near Sulawesi, Indonesia, plying the wicked waters around Wakatobi. Unspoiled, remote, crystal-clear water, world-class diving, reliable wind, and zero, zero crowds. From Sulawesi we'll head southwest and anchor up for a month and a half in Sumbawa for their prime wind and wave season at one of the greatest lefts on Earth to kite. Then we'll head back north across the equator and spend the winter in the Maldives, one of the prettiest atoll archipelagoes on the planet and one that is seriously threatened with sea level rise. Waves, manta rays, whalesharks...did we mention waves?
