Fakarava and Faaite Adventure II BOOKED

BOOKED Fakarava and Toau have been favorites in the past when DISCOVERY spent a great time in these atolls. And this trip we add Faaite atoll, a sleeping beauty unspoiled and no tourist. They are the quintessential wave and lagoon kitesurfing locations and when we came across these for the first time in 2001, they still left an indelible impression. We returned in 2008, 2013, and 2014 and just to show how much we like it here, we will do a few trips this season. If you were looking for a place that defines our sport, look no further than these remote atolls in the Tuamotus. The underwater world is very much alive here, with rays, sharks, turtles, and coral. These trips are why we do the Cabrinha Quest.

Fakarava is one of the largest circular reefs in the world and gets a few dozen tourists, who come for world-class diving. Toau is even less-visited, a much smaller jewel whose only real industry is black pearl farming. Big air, big surf, big winds, big coconuts, big sharks, big fun. Imagine a 30-mile-long lagoon of silky water, clear and aquamarine in color, 25-knot winds and you've just about got it. Well of course there's world-class reef diving, and some pretty exciting waves along the way as well.

The best time of the year in the Tuamotus for wind and weather is June - October, this is the dry season and we have reliable trades.

Getting there: International flight to Papeete, Tahiti (PPT) on United, or Air Tahiti Nui, then domestic on Air Tahiti to Fakarava Atoll. We will finish the trip on Fakarava.
